Vienna Residence Orchestra
The Vienna Residence Orchestra , a Viennese chamber orchestra with long tradition was founded to perform the music of the “Wiener Klassik” in its purest form. The numerous concert series this orchestra has performed in the last decades have taken place at some of the most beautiful palaces in Vienna. The program has consisted of works from Mozart to Johann Strauss, played by anything from 10 to 40 musicians. In 1991 the orchestra was appointed the official representative of the City of Vienna in the festivities commemorative the bicentenary of Mozarts death and has also performed a number of concerts at the “Vienna International Festival”.
One of the best orchestras of Vienna’s music world will take you on a journey through time back to the days of Imperial Vienna.
Venue
The Rosenkavalier Palace – It stands – just as one would expect – in Vienna, and bears exactly the same name as on 8 October 1777: Palais Auersperg (Auersperg Palace).
On selected dates, the concert takes place in “The Ruhmeshalle” (Hall of Fame) at Arsenal (The Museum of Military History – picture above)
It is impossible to capture the fascination of this room in a picture. To fully appreciate it, one has to stand in this magnificent hall and let the frescoes by Carl v. Blaas, the majestic dome, and the unparalleled architectural splendour take their effect.
